Sports Day

If you had passed by or visited the Safa Park at Al Quoz on the 24th of March’09, you would definitely have noticed the buzz and commotion there for the entire day. Vibrant athletes from almost 15 of the best hotels in Dubai had gathered that day for supporting a good cause.
Yes! I am speaking of the Fun Sports Activity organized by HR Network of Dubai, a rally to fight against Tuberculosis and support the people affected by it. Sports such as football, basketball, fun relays, obstacle course, maze run, etc. were a part but with a slight twist to them. Hence, Fun Sports!

The long and exciting day began around 08:30 am and ended by 06:00 pm. Jebel Ali Intl. Hotels as well sent in their best few, who eventually gave all the other hotels the run for their fun....
We started off the event with the cheerleading competition. Whaaaat a blaaasst! The energy generated got your blood pumping and made you wanna shout louder than the others. Moving on, football was played with a rugby ball, basketball had to be played wearing a pirate’s eye patch and volleyball had two team members tied to each other by their hips. Each team had at
least two female members for each game. There was also maze run, jigsaw and relays. We had carried sandwiches and drinks with us from morning itself. The lunch was brought in later by Abela. Parcels of packed food with roast chicken, fish fillets and rice. Hmmm ...that felt like we were supporting a cause right? I know what you must be thinking, hey, it was good. Oh, and lets not forget the really tasty carrot cake guys. That made the palette feel good. So now that the day had come to an end it was time for the awards. Yeah, the time we were all looking forward to all day. Plaques of appreciation were handed out to each participating hotel and each of us was given a medal. And of course who else could be the winners of the entire series but Jebel Ali International Hotels who were awarded the Champion Trophy! It said “If you take on JAIH....you’re going down”. Just kidding ...actually not really! So glad to know that there are people still supporting such good causes. I am very happy to be a part of the team to support it
and looking forward for many more to come.

JAGRS - Overall CHAMPIONS in DULSCO Inter Hotel Sports

JAGRS - Overall CHAMPIONS in DULSCO Inter Hotel Sports

The first tournament of the year was unlike last year where there had been a deafening crowd supporting our resort lead by the sounds of drums. This year the supporters were a lot fewer but the game remained the same with a common factor between the two years; we made it to the finals again!
Whether you’re interested in Volleyball or not, the Men’s Inter Hotel Volleyball Team is definitely a team to watch. They defeated all of their opponents consisting of Al Bustan Center & Residence, Moevenpick and Arabian Court Yard, and took home First Place. To add, the Girls Volleyball Team is following in the Men’s footsteps in collecting trophies; they managed to secure Runners Up against Emirates Airlines. Together gave just cause to present us with the award for
Overall Champions of the Dulsco Inter Hotel Sports Tournament!!

OBT Culinary Team

Oasis Beach Tower is pleased to announce that during this years Salon Culinary 2009 competition from the 23rd to 26th February we had two of our associates participate and both associates have come away winning medals. The competition this year included 24 categories, drawing more than 1300 chefs from various hospitality establishments throughout the United Arab Emirates.

Victor Saldanha participated in presentation of ‘Tapas, Finger food and Canapés’ category; he triumphed in this category and walked away with a Bronze Medal. Victor has participated in this event in previous years and has shown his consistency in continuously improving his knowledge and skill by again walking away with another medal. Susanta Sarath Kumara Deeran Gedara participated in the ‘Four Course Vegetarian Menu’ category and also achieved a Bronze Medal. This was his first Salon Culinary competition and the judging this year was more stringent and focused on international standards, comparable to the most prestigious culinary competitions
held globally, which Sarath met the mark.

Well-done to both associates who have shown that through their passion and dedication they have achieved outstanding recognition from experts in their field.
